Welcome to Create Your Healthy Life! My name is Amber and I’m the admin and creator for this site.
I’m a 39-year-old mother of two teenagers who has struggled with my physical and mental health in the past. As a mom, I used to think that my kids were my number one priority and that what I ate and how I felt just didn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. It was more important that I focused solely on my kids and not at all on me.
I ended up depressed, stressed, and struggling with being overweight and eating way too much junk food. I felt insecure, ugly and like my life didn’t matter. I didn’t realize that putting myself last was effecting my health, my mental health, and making it harder to be the best mom that I could be.
I heard someone say once that, “Your kids deserve the best of you. Not the rest of you that’s left after you’ve given all you have to someone else.” When a mother puts herself in last place every time, it affects her relationships and her ability to be the best mother she can be. But when you take the time to take care of yourself- you actually have the ability to take care of others better.
A little over a year ago I discovered a couple of key things that helped me to improve my mental and physical health and helped me develop confidence and the ability to keep going. Those key things helped e take care of myself and build a more balanced, healthy life for myself and, at the same time, the rest of my family.
To me, a healthy life is a happy life, a balanced life.
Why I created this site.
I created Create Your Healthy Life to share the important key elements to building a healthy life with other struggling moms. It is so easy to get stuck in a rut of taking care of everyone else but yourself. Finding others who are going through the same, or similar struggles as you can help so much. In fact, a support system is one of the key elements to creating a healthy life!
I am here to share some fitness and nutritional tips and create a supportive environment for busy, stressed out moms to come together and help each other. Improving your health helps you be the best mom that you can be and helps you help your children.
Fitness and nutrition should not be expensive or restrictive – it should a balance that works for you, as an individual. It doesn’t need to take hours at a gym or hundreds of dollars a year to be able to achieve a healthy life. But it is a lifelong journey that has to be created, day by day, it doesn’t just happen.
Moms deserve to be happy and healthy through a balanced approach to life. If you don’t create a healthy life you will default, most likely to being unhappy and unhealthy and miserable. Don’t let your life default!
If Momma Ain’t Healthy, Ain’t Nobody Healthy!
My motto has become “If momma ain’t healthy, ain’t nobody healthy!” because moms set the stage for everyone in the home. If mom eats nothing but junk food and sits and watches TV all day, then that is what the kids and the husband end up doing too. We want to teach our children to be healthy and happy so WE need to be healthy and happy.
