Getting started on a new nutrition plan, or recommitting to a nutrition plan when you’ve fallen off the wagon, can be hard. SO today I’m going to do a quick Beachbody 3 Day Refresh Review. The Beachbody 3 Day refresh is one product I’ve found to be effective at helping me get on track, or get BACK on track, with my nutrition goals.
Sometimes it can be helpful to get a boost to help get you going and start the forward momentum. Who wants to keep doing something that is NOT showing results? Not me! I get more motivated by seeing results. Results make me happy! So using the 3 Day Refresh program gets me quick results.
3 Day Refresh is a form of a cleanse diet- a way to help clean out all the crap you’ve been eating and reset your digestive system. When we eat crappy we feel sluggish, cranky, and tired. The faster we can clear the crap out of our system, the faster we get to start feeling better.
So basically, this is a fast system reboot for your digestive tract to help clear out all the gunk you’ve been eating, give you a healthy boost of fiber and protein and restore your gut to get you back on track and seeing results QUICKLY.
What does it entail?
So here’s what the 3 Day Refresh entails:
- Three protein packed shakes a day (one Shakeology & 2 Vanilla Fresh)
- Fiber Sweep to clean out your gut
- Fresh fruits & veggies
- Healthy fats
- Lots and lots of water & tea (optional)
For those three days you need to adhere to the strict diet plan to get the best results. Do NOT eat any meat, dairy, or carbs. Your protein comes mainly from the shakes. You also limit your caffeine to green tea or black coffee (no sweetener or creamer).
After the three days you go back to, or start, eating a balanced diet like the Beachbody Portion Fix Nutrition plan that I talk about on the Nutrition section of this blog.
While on the 3 Day Refresh, it is recommended that you stick to light to medium exercise like yoga and walking. You can do more strenuous exercise, if you choose, but the light exercise is recommended so your body can focus on cleaning out your digestive system instead of repairing sore muscles from a hard workout.
OK, so I tried this three day diet, not quite sure what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised with the results- I lost 5 lbs in 3 days! I also lost my craving for those dang jelly beans (I tried this around Easter- jelly beans are my nemesis!) and am now drinking LESS caffeine than I was before I started.
Confession- I made a killer pot roast on day 2 for the rest of my family to eat, so I did have a few bites of meat on day 2, but otherwise followed the plan.
I will tell you, if you don’t continue with a healthy, balanced nutrition plan after you’re done with the 3 Day Refresh, the results will be short-lived. So while the results were AMAZING for me, it’s not a magic pill with permanent results. But it is a way to achieve quick, visible results for a special occasion or to jump start a diet with a quick win to boots your confidence.
If you want the results to stick, you have to keep eating healthy-ish (ish because nobody is perfect!) and keep moving your body.
Tips for 3 Day Refresh
If you decide to give this a try, here are a couple of tips.
FIRST, read the instruction booklet that comes with the kit. Then give yourself at least a couple days to prepare, especially if your body isn’t use to lots of fiber. It is recommended that if you don’t already eat the recommended number of fruits and veggies every day that you take a week to get your body use to eating more fiber before you hit it hard with the 3 Day Refresh.
Also, the instructions will list out all the foods you can & can’t eat to make the most of these three days. Be super strict for three days for the best results.
SECOND, when you have the choice to mix fruit in with your shakes, take it! I didn’t much care for the taste of the plain Vanilla Fresh shake but it tasted much better mixed with fruit. I added blueberries for two of the vanilla shakes and one day I added half an orange. So much better! You can also add spices off the guilt free list (like cinnamon or nutmeg) to improve the taste when you don’t add fruit to it.
THIRD, when you mix the fiber sweep you are going to want to chug that sucker as quick as you can. It doesn’t really taste bad, but it has ground chia seeds in it. Chia seeds expand in liquid so the longer it sits in a glass of water the thicker it gets and the harder it is to swallow. So stir it up and chug it as fast as you can!
